Kieran Tierney made an instant impact on his return to Pittodrie with Celtic to prove his “ridiculous” quality in their 2-0 win over Aberdeen.
The Hoops secured one of their most popular signings in recent times with the news that Tierney would return to Celtic Park on a pre-contract agreement, with six months before his Arsenal contract expired.
Celtic weren’t able to bring in Tierney ahead of schedule during the January transfer window, but the 28-year-old has been officially back in the fold since 10 June after the end of the Premier League season.
Brendan Rodgers‘ side may have had a mixed pre-season including a 4-0 win over Newcastle and a 5-1 loss to Ajax within five days of each other, but Celtic have started the season proper on the front foot.

Celtic’s first match of the season saw 87 minutes pass before Luke McCowan struck late on to beat St.
Mirren at Parkhead, but their first away trip of the new campaign has been much more straight-forward.
Aberdeen were a distant second-best in the first half of Sunday’s match at Pittodrie as Celtic took a 1-0 advantage into the break, with Benjamin Nygren finishing clinically for his first Hoops goal on 27 minutes.
Nygren’s strike came courtesy of a pinpoint cross from Tierney‘s left flank though, as the Scotland full-back darted to the byline before looping the ball back in for Nygren to hammer home on the half-volley.

Greg Taylor’s departure to PAOK on a free transfer this summer has hardly been felt with the return of Tierney to Parkhead, and fans were in no doubt that Celtic have the best left-back in Scotland yet again.
Some supporters compared Tierney’s dominance of the left flank to that of Gareth Bale‘s peak years at Tottenham, and his immediate link-up with another new signing in Nygren was also noted by fans.
Tierney’s cross was described as a “thing of beauty” by one supporter, while others couldn’t believe the “ridiculous” fact that Celtic have a left-back of his “phenomenal” quality to choose from this season.
